NOPD Investigates Homicide on Chef Menteur

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that took place near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Knight Drive on Saturday, June 22, 2019. 

At around 2:13 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting on Chef Menteur Highway and Knight Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 17-year-old female victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds seated on the passenger side of a pickup truck. The victim was later pronounced dead on the scene. The adult male driver was also observed to be suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He was transported to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition. 

Investigators are still currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
