NOPD Commander Completes Challenging 10-Week Training at FBI Academy

NOPD Third District Commander Ryan Lubrano has joined a very select group of law enforcement officials after successfully completing training at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Va.
Lubrano, a 21-year NOPD veteran, joins Deputy Superintendent Paul Noel, Deputy Chief Otha Sandifer and Lt. Denise Thomas as active NOPD personnel to complete the 10-week training course and graduate from the academy.
“It was an honor and a privilege to attend the training academy with such a fine group of officers from around the world,” Lubrano said. “This will allow me to share what I learned with NOPD to make the department even better.”
Lubrano said the academy was both an academic and physical challenge, but paid off in the lasting personal friendships and professional networking opportunities.
The invitation-only training is attended by leaders and managers of state, local, federal, and international law enforcement agencies. Participants are selected through a nomination process and are drawn from every U.S. state and territory and from international partner nations.
There were 256 officers attending the 276th session of the academy. Courses on subjects including law, behavioral science, forensic science, understanding terrorism/terrorist mindsets, leadership, communication, and health/fitness were offered.
Officers participate in a wide range of leadership and specialized training, where they share ideas, techniques, and experiences to inform their outlook on policing in their respective communities.
