NOPD Arrests Suspect in Fourth District Aggravated Assault

The NOPD has arrested Barry Alfortish (DOB: 09-29-1962) in the investigation of an aggravated assault that occurred on May 14, 2019 in the 4600 block of General DeGaulle Drive.

At about 11:15 a.m., the victim reportedly entered a Shell gas station and placed her items for purchase on the front counter. At that time, she was allegedly informed by a white male subject later identified as Alfortish that she stepped in front of him in line. The victim and wanted subject briefly argued, at which time Alfortish allegedly threatened to stab the victim. Alfortish then reportedly exited the store and returned moments later armed with a knife. Alfortish allegedly approached the victim with the knife and again threatened to stab her before fleeing the location.

Through investigation, NOPD Fourth District detectives positively identified Alfortish as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Alfortish was located on June 18, at which time he was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated assault.
