NOPD Quickly Arrests Suspects in Attempted Armed Robbery on Burgundy Street

The NOPD has arrested three suspects – two adults and one juvenile – in connection with an attempted armed robbery that occurred in the early hours on June 28, 2017 in the 800 block of Burgundy Street.

The victim told police that at about 1:14 a.m., he was standing in the area when he observed three unknown black individuals wearing hooded sweatshirts walking briskly toward him from the intersection of Burgundy and Dumaine. The victim crossed the street in an attempt to avoid the suspects, but one of the suspects grabbed the back of the victim’s shirt and demanded his property. The victim told police he turned around and pushed the suspect away, at which time he saw another of the suspects pointing a handgun at him and demanding his property. The victim fled the area on Burgundy Street. Once the victim saw that the suspects stopped chasing him, the victim called police and notified the dispatcher of the suspects’ location.

Eighth District officers and members of the French Quarter Task Force arrived at the intersection of St. Philip and North Rampart streets and observed three individuals matching the description of the suspects. The individuals fled on foot, but were apprehended a short time later. The victim later confirmed the three individuals as the subjects who attempted to rob him at gunpoint.

Arrested in this incident were Robert Hall (DOB: 07-15-1999), Destiny Goodman (DOB: 04-02-2000) and a 15-year-old juvenile male. Each was booked on a charge of attempted armed robbery. Photos of Hall and Goodman are included with this release. Because the third suspect is a juvenile, his photo is not available.

Further investigation had also led investigators to believe that the suspects could be responsible for a purse snatching incident that occurred earlier in the evening at the intersection of Race and Magazine streets.

Anyone with information regarding either of these incidents is asked to contact Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
