NOPD Investigating a Homicide at Paris Avenue and Lafreniere Street

NOPD Investigating a Homicide at Paris Avenue and Lafreniere Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (June 27, 2017) at the intersection of Paris Avenue and Lafreniere Street.

Just after 5 p.m., Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim having suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the chest. The victim was transported via EMS to an area hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as motive.

No further information in this incident is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim’s name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
