NOPD Investigating Homicide in First District

New Orleans - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 4000 block of Banks Street in the First District.

On July 10, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., First District officers responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Banks Street after receiving a report of an unresponsive female.

Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old female in a rear bedroom of the residence. She was unresponsive and appeared to have sustained blunt force trauma to the body. New Orleans EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Through the course of the investigation, the incident was determined to be a homicide.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will officially determine the cause of death and release the victim's identity.

At this time, there is no suspect information available. The investigation remains ongoing.
