The NOPD today (July 24, 2026) announced the results of a DWI saturation patrol operation that occurred in the Seventh District on the evening of July 23.

During the patrol, NOPD officers conducted 83 vehicle stops, each carried out with a focus on both enforcement and public engagement. These stops resulted in a total of 218 citations issued, addressing a range of violations that directly impact roadway safety.

These enforcement efforts led to three DWI arrests, removing impaired drivers from the road while also preventing potential harm to other motorists and pedestrians.

Officers also made three additional arrests on open warrants, including one municipal warrant, one fugitive warrant and one traffic warrant. In addition, one vehicle was towed due to not having required insurance.

“These results are more than just numbers,” NOPD Traffic Unit Capt. Anthony Micheu said. “They represent proactive policing, community protection, and the collective effort of a team committed to making a measurable difference. Each contact, citation, and arrest contributes to deterring dangerous behavior and reinforcing the message that impaired and unsafe driving will not be tolerated.”

Micheu added that the success of this operation is a direct reflection of the officers’ hard work, situational awareness and dedication to duty.

“This operation and these results once again demonstrated the dedication, professionalism and vigilance of our officers in safeguarding the community,” NOPD Traffic Division Capt. Anthony Micheu said. “Their professionalism during each stop not only enforced the law but also reinforced public trust in our department’s commitment to safety.”
