The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred during the evening hours on July 30, 2025, at the intersection of General De Gaulle Drive and Westbend Parkway.
At about 10:40 p.m., NOPD Fourth District detectives were notified of a vehicle crash with injury having occurred at the location. Upon arrival and further investigation, detectives determined that a known female driver was traveling southbound on General De Gaulle Drive when an adult male pedestrian reportedly ran into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
