NOPD Investigates Homicide, Shooting in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one adult male and injured another Sunday morning (July 4) in the 3100 block of South Carrollton Avenue. 

At around 4:46 a.m., Second District officers were notified about two adult males arriving at a local hospital after sustaining apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims expired at the hospital, and the second victim is currently listed in critical condition.

Investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. 

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
