NOPD Investigating Fatal Crash on St. Claude Avenue

NOPD Investigating Fatal Crash on St. Claude Avenue

The NOPD is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday, July 28, 2019 on St. Claude Avenue and Egania Street.

 

At about 10:23 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle accident with injury at the location. Upon arrival, investigators discovered that a 47-year-old male operating a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on St. Claude Avenue. Around the same time, a Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Egania Street, obeying the stop sign at St. Claude Avenue. Then the 38-year-old female driver of the Honda checked for clearence and proceeded northbound into the intersection. Shortly after, the motorcycle crashed into the driver’s side area of the four-door sedan. At which time, the motorcycle operator was ejected.

 

The motorcycle operator sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

 

Speed is suspected to be a factor in this crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash

 

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and cause of death, upon autopsy and notification of family.
