NOPD Arrests Suspect in Aggravated Assault, Domestic Battery on Queensway Drive

The NOPD has arrested Melanie Thompson (DOB: 12-08-1970) in connection with an aggravated assault and domestic battery incident that occurred on July 22, 2018 in the 7000 block of Queensway Drive.

On the date of the incident, Thompson and the victim were reportedly involved in a verbal altercation, at which time Thompson allegedly attempted to record the altercation with her cell phone. The victim then reportedly took possession of the phone, at which time Thompson allegedly attacked the victim before arming herself with two kitchen knives and lunging at the victim while demanding her phone be returned. Upon the victim returning Thompson’s cell phone, Thompson then allegedly raised the knife a second time and motioned as if she was going to stab the victim.

Thompson was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated assault and domestic abuse battery.
