NOPD Arrests Suspect for Weapons, Drug Violations in Sixth District

The NOPD has arrested Carter Ward (DOB: 12-07-1984) for weapons and drug violations after Ward was located on July 22, 2018 at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Magnolia Street.

At about 9:06 p.m., Sixth District Task Force officers observed Ward at the intersection, walking in a manner consistent with carrying a firearm. As officers approached Ward, he reportedly attempted to flee. However, he was quickly apprehended. A search of Ward revealed him to be in possession of a handgun. Ward was also found in possession of narcotics at the time of his apprehension.

Ward was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for illegal carrying of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, as well as possession of crack cocaine, Tramadol and marijuana.

Ward had been under surveillance by Sixth District Task Force officers, based on information obtained through a Crimestoppers top that Ward was allegedly armed and was known to sell illegal narcotics.

Anyone with additional information regarding this case or arrested suspect is asked to call Sixth District Task Force officers at 504-658-6060 or call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-7867.
