NOPD Searching for Suspect in Armed Robbery at Esplanade Avenue and North Prieur Street

The NOPD is seeking assistance in identifying and locating a suspect seen on surveillance in connection with an armed robbery that occurred this evening (July 30, 2017) at the intersection of Esplanade Avenue and North Prieur Street.

The victims told police that at about 7:15 p.m., they were at the intersection taking photos of a structure when an unknown black male subject approached from behind. The subject then reportedly brandished an olive-colored semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victims’ property. The victims complied, giving the subject their camera and camera bag, and the subject then fled east on North Prieur Street.

The victims described the subject as a dark-skinned black male possibly between 25 and 30 years of age, standing taller than 6’0” with a slender build and wearing a white t-shirt with an irregular black pattern on the front. The subject was also described as wearing a black and white scarf-like garment over his face during the incident.

A photo is included captured from surveillance footage in the area of a subject fitting the description of the suspect in this incident.
