Woman Robbed at Gunpoint on North Rampart

NOPD is looking for a silver Altima that was used during an armed robbery in the Fifth District.

The victim reported that on January 20, 2017, at approximately 9:45 a.m., she was walking in the 4000 block of North Rampart Street when she noticed a white or silver vehicle traveling eastbound on North rampart. The vehicle stopped and the driver exited. He then approached the victim with an unknown firearm and grabbed her purse. The victim refused to release her purse so the suspect struck her in the face with the butt of his gun. She fell to the ground and let go of her purse, and the suspect returned to the vehicle fled the scene.

The victim advised that the suspect’s vehicle was an unknown year, silver four-door Altima with Mississippi license plate number FTD142. A photo of a similar make and model vehicle is included.

The perpetrator is described as a black male, approximately 5’9” with a thin build. He is in his mid to late 20s and was wearing a black baseball cap, black jacket, and black pants. The suspect had a semi-automatic handgun.

If you have any information about this incident or the identity of the perpetrator please contact Detective Qualyndrea Jones or any Fifth District detective at 504-658-6050. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
