The NOPD needs the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection to an armed robbery in the 700 block of Octavia.
On January 7, 2017, at approximately 9 p.m., the victim reported that he was walking on Octavia when an unknown black male approached him and pointed a handgun at him. The perpetrator demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone and the victim complied. The perpetrator then fled the scene on foot towards Magazine Street.
The suspect is described as a black male, 30 years old, 6' tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored hoodie that covered his head and face and he was carrying a black handgun.

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
