NOPD Investigating a Homicide on Davey Street

NOPD Investigating a Homicide on Davey Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide today (Jan. 23) in the 4000 block of Davey Street.

At about 2:55 p.m., Third District officers responded to a call of a person down in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered the unresponsive body of an unidentified black female in the water of Bayou St. John. The incident was given a signal of an unclassified death. However, upon further investigation, evidence at the scene led detectives to reclassify the incident as a homicide.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and determine cause of death, pending results of an autopsy.
