NOPD Arrests Suspects in Homicide, Attempted Homicide Incidents

 

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and U.S. Marshals arrested two suspects today in connection with two separate incidents.

 

  • Officers arrested John Richey Jr. (DOB: 04-04-1997) today on a charge of attempted second degree murder in an incident that occurred in the 6100 block of Tullis Drive on November 18, 2016. Just after 1 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to the location on a call for an aggravated battery by shooting. Officers arrived at the scene to find the victim lying on the ground in the 6000 block of Tullis Drive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. During the course of investigation, detectives developed Rickey as the suspect in this incident. VOWS officers and U.S. Marshals apprehended Rickey in the 500 block of Poydras Street.

 

  • Officers arrested Jyran McGee (DOB: 05-22-1991) today as a fugitive from St. James Parish on one charge each of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in an incident that occurred in St. James Parish on November 13, 2016. Magee was arrested in the 6000 block of Wadsworth Street.
