Eighth District Officers of the Month Jason Collins and Joel Smith have arrested two suspects on Bourbon Street for possessing drugs, illegally carrying a gun and a shooting incident in the Third District.
Timothy Riley (DOB: 12-13-1975)
The incident happened today (Jan. 14.) At around 2:35 a.m. both officers were patrolling on foot when they spotted Riley standing near a business in the 300 block of Bourbon Street. Officers then observe Riley place a small plastic bag into another man’s hands. Officer James Terrell quickly apprehended Riley as the suspect was seen throwing several small bags of a white powdery substance on the ground. Through the course of the investigation, officers confiscated crack cocaine, heroin and marijuana on the suspect.
Clarence Johns (DOB: 08-07-1996)
The incident happened on January 3, 2017. At around 10:28 p.m., Eighth District officers responded to a call of suspicion persons in the 500 block of Bourbon Street. Officers spotted Johns fitting the description from the caller. Both officers apprehended Johns after he was seen placing his hands in his pocket and attempting to flee from officers. Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered Johns with a firearm in his front right hip. Officers also discovered a small plastic bag containing what is believed to be marijuana and officers also spotted another small bag of four individually rock like substance which is believed to be crack cocaine. Johns was arrested and booked into CLU. On January 11, 2017, he was rebooked by Third District detectives for an aggravated battery by shooting and aggravated criminal damage to property for a shooting incident that occurred in the 6100 block of Franklin Avenue.
