NOPD Investigating Traffic Fatality in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality in the 1700 block of Gentilly Boulevard that resulted in one death and three subjects injured.

At about 10:41 a.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a reported vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers located three injured subjects between the two vehicles. All subjects involved were transported via EMS to a local hospital.

Through further investigation, it was determined that a white Hyundai SUV driven by an adult female was heading southbound on Gentilly Boulevard when, for currently undetermined reasons, the vehicle crossed the media and entered the northbound lanes of traffic. A Ford pick-up truck occupied by an adult male driver and two passengers - one adult and one juvenile - was traveling northbound on Gentilly Boulevard at the time and collided with the Hyundai.

The driver of the Ford truck was pronounced deceased at the hospital. No other updates are currently available on the conditions of the remaining subjects.

Investigation into this incident is ongoing. No further information, including possible charges, is currently available.

Anyone with information that can assist in this investigation is urged to call NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit investigators at 504-658-6205.
