Suspect Arrested in NOPD Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Carlos Brown (pictured, male, DOB: 12-22-1992) in the investigation of a homicide on January 27, 2021 in the 3400 block of Kabel Drive that left one person dead and an infant child wounded.

At about 1:43 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Kabel and General De Gaulle drives. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim inside of a vehicle in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Kabel Drive and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives learned that two additional individuals connected to this incident - an infant female and an adult female - arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance. The infant female victim sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound to the leg in this incident, while the adult female was not injured.

At about 4:05 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the 1600 block of Southlawn Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to a local hospital via EMS.

Through investigation, detectives determined the two incidents were connected, with the suspect and victims being known to each other. Detectives positively identified Brown as the perpetrator of the homicide and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Upon release from the hospital, Brown was arrested and booked today into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for second degree murder, domestic abuse child endangerment and two counts of simple assault.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to call NOPD Homicide Det. Lucretia Gantner at 504-658-5300.
