NOPD Investigates Sixth District Homicide

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of an adult male in the Sixth District.

Around 4:29 p.m. on Sunday (January 26, 2020), Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Dryades Street. Upon arrival, the responding officers discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. There are no further details available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
