NOPD Arrests Juvenile Suspects in Fourth District Shooting

The NOPD has arrested two 14-year-old juveniles in the investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred on January 25, 2020 in the 3500 block of Texas Drive.

At about 8:30 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to her left leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As investigation proceeded, officers obtained a description of the perpetrators in the incident. The officers canvassed the area and located two subjects who matched the description. The two subjects, determined to be 14-year-old juvenile males, were detained and found in possession of two firearms. The subjects were subsequently arrested and charged in the shooting incident and were transported to the Juvenile Division for booking.

One of the juvenile suspects, identified as the shooter in the incident, was charged with aggravated second degree battery. The second juvenile was charged with principle to aggravated second degree battery.

Additionally, the two juveniles were each charged respectively for illegal carrying of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a juvenile.

Because the victims are juveniles, their photos and names will not be released.
