Mayor LaToya Cantrell today announced her selection of current NOPD Training and Education Division Commander Shaun Ferguson as the city's next police superintendent, succeeding outgoing Superintendent Michael Harrison.
Cantrell and Ferguson, along with outgoing NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison, addressed media during a press conference at City Hall.
Harrison, who has served as NOPD superintendent for the past four years, was recently selected to be the next police commissioner of the City of Baltimore.
Harrison's final day as superintendent and Ferguson's installation as superintendent will take place on Friday, January 18, in a ceremony to be held at Gallier Hall.
