The NOPD Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide that claimed the life of a male victim Saturday January 20, 2018.
Seventh District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at 1:40 p.m. in the 4700 block of Shalimar Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to University Medical Center by EMS where he later died.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of an autopsy and notification of family.
