NOPD Investigating Homicide in Second District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours today (February 12, 2026) in the 3300 block of Hamilton Street, in the Second District.

At about 12:48 a.m., NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of a male shot in the area. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
