The NOPD has now made two arrests in a January 7, 2025 homicide that claimed the life of a 38-year-old man in the Fifth District.
Arrested were Sterling Pepe, Black male DOB: 5-25-1999 and Marvin Banks, Black male DOB:1-28-1996.
Pepe was apprehended by the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) along with U.S. Marshals early this morning (February 13, 2025) in the 1900 block of Touro Street. Banks was arrested on January 11, 2025.
Pepe and Banks are accused of shooting and killing 38-year-old Geron Elzie shortly after noon at Elysian Fields Avenue and North Galvez Street.
Through investigation detectives identified Pepe and Banks as the perpetrators and have charged both with second degree murder. Both were booked into the Orleans Justice Center accordingly.
NOPD's Homicide Unit was also assisted in this investigation by Louisiana State Police-Troop Nola, NOPD's Fifth District as well as the NOPD Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team (VCAIT).
