NOPD Investigating Officer Involved Shooting Incident, Injured Officer in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating an officer-involved shooting incident in which an officer was injured by a vehicle on the Westbound side of the Claiborne Avenue Bridge.

On February 6, 2025, at approximately 9:48 a.m., an armed robbery of a blue Nissan Sentra occurred in the 1300 block of France Street. Around 5:12 p.m., Fifth District Officers spotted the stolen vehicle along with a white Kia sedan that was also known to be involved in the armed robbery.

Officers stopped the stolen vehicle in traffic on the bridge and apprehended the three suspects inside. The white Kia attempted to flee and struck an officer. Three officers subsequently fired at the vehicle as it fled, striking the back windshield.

The officer who was struck by the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by EMS.

The driver of the white Kia sedan remains at large.

NOPD's Public Integrity Bureau Force Investigation Team is investigating the officer discharge aspect of the incident.
