NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Investigation of December 2022 Homicide

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals today (February 2, 2023) arrested Kentrell Williams (black male, DOB: 09-05-1982) in the investigation of a homicide on December 22, 2022, in the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

At about 8:00 p.m. on December 22, NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult male victims with gunshot wounds. One victim was declared deceased on scene, while the second victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

On December 27, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office positively identified the victim as 46-year-old Corey Carter and determined cause of death to be from a gunshot wound.

As investigation into the incident progressed, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Williams as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Williams on one count of second-degree murder.

Williams was located and arrested today and subsequently booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center accordingly.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
