NOPD Arrests Shooting Suspect Moments After Incident

The NOPD apprehended a suspected shooter just moments after shots were fired leaving one dead and four others wounded in the 1600 block of Terpsichore Street last evening (February 19, 2023).

NOPD officers and partnering law enforcement officers were in the vicinity when they heard shots fired around 9:30 p.m.  Upon arrival at the location, they discovered five victims suffering from gunshot wounds.  Those victims included 3 males, and 2 females. One of the victims is a juvenile.  All were taken to the hospital by EMS where one male victim was later pronounced deceased.  The other four victims are reportedly in stable condition.

According to Chief Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier the quick response by NOPD and its partners led to the arrest of a subject suspected of being the perpetrator of this incident.  Two weapons were also confiscated.

Aiding in the quick response along with NOPD were officers with the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Department, Louisiana State Police, and the Department of Corrections

The NOPD is working to determine if other persons are involved in this incident and are asking the public to contact NOPD's Sixth District with any information at (504) 658-6060 or Crimestoppers anonymously at (504) 822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-7867.
