NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Wanted Suspect in Carjacking, Attempted Carjacking Investigations

NOPD VOWS, U.S. Marshals Arrest Wanted Suspect in Carjacking, Attempted Carjacking Investigations

The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and the U.S. Marshals today (February 6, 2022) located and apprehended wanted suspect Tyrese Harris (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-09-2003) in the investigations of two separate carjacking-related incidents.

Through investigation, NOPD Second District detectives - with the assistance of tips received through Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans - developed and positively identified Harris as the perpetrator in an unarmed carjacking on Febraury 1, 2022 in the 3800 block of South Carrollton Avenue and obtained an arrest warrant on a charge of principle to simple carjacking.

Additionally, NOPD Sixth District detectives had through investigation identified Harris as the perpetrator of an attempted armed carjacking that occurred on January 18 in the 700 block of Howard Avenue. An arrest warrant was obtained for Harris on charges of attempted armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal use of weapons and illegal carrying of a weapon.

VOWS and the U.S. Marshals located and arrested Harris today in the 1500 block of Milton Street without incident. Harris was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
