NOPD, Law Enforcement Partners Arrest Suspect on Multiple Charges

On January 31, 2022, the NOPD arrested Algernon Jacques (pictured, black male, 08-07-2000) on multiple charges in an investigation that included assistance from Louisiana Probation & Parole, Louisiana State Police and the FBI.

At about 2:36 p.m., officers with the NOPD’s First, Second and Sixth Districts, as well as with the Violent Crime Abatement and Investigation Team (VCAIT), LP&P, LSP and FBI arrested Jacques for possession of a vehicle identified as having been stolen in an armed robbery incident on January 28 in the 600 block of South Galvez Street. The vehicle was also found to have been utilized in the commission of an aggravated battery by shooting on January 28 in the 4400 block of South Claiborne Avenue.

During the arrest, Jacques was found to be in possession of a rifle, vehicle key to the stolen vehicle and narcotics. A search warrant was acquired for Jacques’ residence and, upon execution, two additional handguns were found.

Jacques was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for possession of stolen property, illegal possession of a Schedule II CDS, illegal carrying of a weapon, resisting an officer, obstruction of justice and possession of illegal drugs in a drug-free zone.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Second District detectives at 504-658-6020.
