NOPD Investigating Homicide by Cutting on Burgundy Street
The NOPD is investigating a fatal stabbing this evening (February 6, 2019) in the 600 block of Burgundy Street.
 
At about 6:45 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a possible hostage situation at a residence in the block. Upon arrival, officers encountered the reporting person outside of the residence, who stated that an adult male relative was possibly barricaded inside the residence. The male subject later surrendered to officers and was taken into custody.
 
Based on information provided by the male subject, officers conducted a cursory search of the scene and observed an unresponsive male subject suffering from apparent wounds. The subject was declared deceased at the scene.
 
Investigation into the incident remains ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
 
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
