NOPD Seeking Suspect in Shooting on Union Street

The NOPD is seeking assistance in identifying and locating an individual believed to be the perpetrator in a shooting that occurred today in the 700 block of Union Street that injured two victims.

At about 3:17 p.m., a fight reportedly occurred among a group of approximately 10 individuals on Union Street near Carondelet Street. One man in the group allegedly produced a handgun and fired into the group, striking one victim in the leg and a second victim in the head area. Both victims were transported by EMS. The victim shot in the head area was reported to be coherent and talking prior to transport. No further update on the victims’ conditions is available at this time.

With patrols throughout the area, NOPD was in position to respond immediately to the incident and secure the scene. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Included is an image of the suspect captured from surveillance footage. The NOPD is not releasing video in this incident at this time.
