NOPD Investigating Homicide on South Johnson Street

NOPD Investigating Homicide on South Johnson Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred this morning, February 2, 2018 in the 2800 block of South Johnson Street.

At about 1:00 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the unresponsive body of an adult male lying on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s) to the body. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name and official cause of death.
