NOPD Investigates Double Homicide, Shooting with Multiple Victims

The NOPD is investigating a double homicide and shooting incident involving five male victims on February 13, 2018.

At around 8:12 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to shots fired in the 5400 block of Andry Street.  Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered that a group of victims were in a vehicle and in the area when unknown suspects started firing shots at them striking the victims and vehicle.

The victims in the vehicle then drove to the 5400 block of St. Claude Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered one male victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the back of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.  A second male victim was taken to the hospital by EMS. The victim died from his injuries at a nearby hospital.

As the investigation progressed, officers discovered three other victims suffering from gunshot wounds during the incident arrived at a hospital via private conveyance.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
