NOPD Arrests Suspect in Third District Homicide

The NOPD has arrested a suspect in connection with a Third District homicide that occurred Friday, February 23, 2018.

 

At 11:34 a.m., a Third District Task Force Officer was in the area of Louisa Street and Chef Menteur Highway.

 

The officer was flagged and was alerted to a fire behind the shuttered Winn Dixie grocery store in the 4600 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

 

As the approached the area, he was alerted to a possible suspect walking away from the scene.

 

The suspect was identified as David Klein, (W/M DOB: 08/20/1965).

 

Klein is accused of setting the victim on fire and attempting to leave the scene.

 

Klein was booked into Orleans Parish Central Lockup on a charge of second-degree murder.

 

The victim has not been identified at this time.
