Suspect Steals Two Cars from Fourth District Parking Lot

A man stole two cars from the same parking lot this morning (Feb. 15) and NOPD needs the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

 

Victim #1 reported that at approximately 10 a.m., she was getting into her vehicle in the parking area of Rue Parc Fontaine Apartment complex when an unknown black male approached her and demanded her vehicle at knifepoint.  The victim struggled with the subject after he entered her vehicle, sustaining minor injuries.

 

The perpetrator then fled the scene in the victim’s car but crashed it through a fence as he fled. He continued driving and crashed the vehicle into the rear wall of an apartment in the 3200 block of Kabel Drive. The suspect then exited the vehicle, taking a gun that the victim kept under the front seat, and ran toward the exit of the apartment complex. He then encountered Victim #2 who was getting into his vehicle.The suspect pointed the gun at Victim #2 and took his vehicle, fleeing the scene toward General DeGualle Drive.

 

The suspect is described as being a 40-year-old black male with a stocky build, dark complexion, salt and pepper facial hair. He was wearing dark clothing.     

 

The stolen vehicle is a brown 2007 Chevrolet Impala that has a dent in the hood and is missing molding from the driver’s side door and a hubcap on the passenger side rear tire. A photo of a similar make and model is included.
