NOPD needs the public’s assistance in identifying an armed robbery suspect.
The victims reported that on February 17, 2017 at 8:06 a.m., an unknown black male approached Victim #1 in the 4300 block of Washington Avenue and pointed a shotgun at his head. The perpetrator demanded the victim’s property, then took a wallet from the victim’s pocket.
The suspect then tapped the passenger side window of a car parked nearby and demanded the driver’s wallet. Victim #2 complied and the perpetrator fled the scene.
The suspect is described as a black male, 16-20 years old, 6’ tall with a thin build and a flat top hair style with little twists. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue stonewashed jeans, and baby blue tennis shoes with white soles. The subject’s vehicle was a dark color newer model sedan, possibly a Nissan Versa, with an unknown license plate.

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
