Suspect Arrested for Shooting Victim During Armed Robbery

NOPD Fourth District officers have arrested Marcell Dwayne Ledet (DOB: 04/05/1986) after he shot a victim he was trying to rob.

The incident happened on February 11, 2017. The victim told police at about 10:48 p.m., he was approached by Ledet with a firearm in the 3700 block of General De Gaulle Drive. The victim then told police Ledet demanded the victim’s property but when the victim refused, Ledet shot the victim in the face and hand. Through the course of the investigation, Ledet was identified as the perpetrator of the incident. 

Fourth District officers arrested Ledet on Friday, February 24, 2017 at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Garden Oaks Drive. Ledet tried to flee toward the rear window of the apartment. However, officers positioned at the rear of the complex were able to apprehend Ledet. 

Ledet was arrested and booked with attempted armed robbery, use of a firearm, and aggravated second degree battery.
