NOPD Investigating Double Homicide on Huntlee Drive

NOPD Investigating Double Homicide on Huntlee Drive

The NOPD is investigating a double homicide that occurred on Tuesday, January 31, in the 3300 block of Huntlee Drive.

At about 8:20 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, police discovered the unresponsive body of a black male lying in the grass in front of Edna Karr High School. The victim was found to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second unknown black male victim also found at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was transported to an area hospital, were he later died from his injuries.

Karr officials confirmed that a basketball game was taking place in the school gymnasium at the time of the incident. No students or spectators were injured, and neither of the victims were current students at the school.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victims' names, upon completion of autopsy.
