NOPD Investigating Weapon Discharge on Napoleon

NOPD Investigating Weapon Discharge on Napoleon

The NOPD is investigating a weapon discharge that occurred today (February 25, 2017) in the 1500 block of Napoleon Avenue.

At about 2:30 p.m., NOPD officers along with officers from other agencies on patrol in the area heard a gunshot. Officers then observed a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen area. Officers, along with medical personnel immediately responded to the victim. The victim was in stable condition and transported to an area hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, officers determined that the weapon was discharged from inside of a nearby Port-a-Let, by an unknown suspect who may have mishandled the weapon.  Officers also determined that there was no altercation that preceded the shooting. The investigation is ongoing and officers are canvasing the area for evidence and information that may help identified the suspect.
