NOPD Investigating a Homicide on Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred today (February 23, 2017) in the 2000 block of Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way.

At about 2:45 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
