NOPD Investigating a Fatal Triple Shooting on Earhart Boulevard

The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred today (February 23, 2017) at the intersection of Earhart Boulevard and Dante Street that left one man dead and two men injured.

At about 3:42 p.m., Second District officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered two black males inside of an auto parts store and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The two were transported via EMS to an area hospital for treatment.

In the shopping center parking lot, officers discovered a maroon four-door car with damage consistent with being struck by gunfire. Inside of the vehicle was a black male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through investigation, police learned that a black SUV had reportedly pulled up next to the victims’ vehicle at the intersection when two individuals exited the SUV and allegedly opened fire on the victim’s vehicle. The individuals then returned to the SUV and fled the scene heading south on Dante Street, then in an unknown direction.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Homicide Detective Robert Bachelder is in charge of the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-5300 with any information regarding this incident.
