NOPD Investigates Homicide on Columbus Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide in the 1700 block of Columbus.

Shortly before 9 a.m. today (Feb. 27), NOPD officers responded to a call of a stabbing near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Columbus. Upon arrival they found an unknown black male suffering from stab wounds. EMS transported the victim to University Medical Center where he later expired.

Witnesses told detectives they saw an unknown black male in a black car, possibly a Camaro, exit the vehicle in the 1700 block of Columbus and remove something from the trunk of the car. He then walked around to the passenger side of the vehicle where he reportedly stabbed the victim. The victim was then removed from the vehicle and he fell to the ground. The suspect got back into the vehicle and fled the scene via Columbus Street.
