Members of the New Orleans Police Department Fatality Unit are invesigating a Hit and Run Fatality that occurred this morning (December 29, 2025) near the intersection of General Meyer and W Homestead Drive in the Fourth District.
At around 6:15 a.m, Fourth District officers received a call about an hit and run incident near the intersection. Upon arrival, they discovered two vehicles had collided and the driver of Vehicle #1 had fled the scene.
Emergency Medical Technicians arrived shortly after the call and declared an adult male occupant from inside of Vehicle #2 deceased on the scene. The driver of Vehicle #2 was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin. The Orleans Parish Coroners Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
