On December 12, 2024, members of the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Jeremiah Williams (black male, DOB: 12-25-1999) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on November 3, 2024, in the 700 block of Tchoupitoulas Street.
Around 6:30 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to the call of a shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers found a 24-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on scene. Investigators say the victim was outside when he was approached by an unknown subject who shot him multiple times and then fled. Initial reports indicate the victim was the intended target of the shooting.
On November 5, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 24-year-old Frederick Magee and determined preliminary cause of death to be from gunshot-related injuries.
As investigation into the incident progressed, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Williams as the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder. NOPD VOWS and the U.S. Marshals located and arrested Williams at a residence in Jefferson Parish, after which he was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correction Center as a fugitive.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
