The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred this morning (December 28, 2022) in the 3100 block of Pittari Drive that left one person dead.

Around 11:30 a.m., NODP Fourth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at a residence in the block. Upon arrival, they discovered a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. 

Through further investigation, detectives learned that the owner of the residence had allegedly located an armed unknown male subject inside the residence. The homeowner then reportedly opened fire, striking the subject.

As of this writing, the homeowner has not been charged in connection with this investigation which remains active and ongoing.

No further information is currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
