NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (December 14, 2022) on the exit ramp of Interstate 10 West at Saint Bernard Avenue.

At about 2:54 p.m., NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1700 block of Saint Bernard Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject that had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Through further investigation, it was determined that the incident had occurred while the victim was driving on I-10 West at Saint Bernard Avenue. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was later declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
