Suspect Arrested for Fifth District Armed Robbery

The NOPD’s Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team (VCAIT) arrested Ronald Burton (pictured, male, DOB: 11-14-1968) in the investigation of an armed robbery on November 26, 2020 in the 600 block of Montegut Street.

During investigation, officers learned the victims were reportedly walking when they were abruptly stopped by a subject on a bicycle. The subject allegedly produced a firearm and demanded the victims' property. The victims complied and the suspect fled.

Through further investigation, NOPD VCAIT detectives utilized investigative tools to locate the perpetrator, who was positively identified as Burton, later that day. Burton was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on two counts of armed robbery with a firearm and one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is asked to contact NOPD Fifth District detectives at 504-658-6050.
