The NOPD is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred this evening (December 9, 2020) in the 12100 block of Old Gentilly Road.
At about 8:30 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered a white Dodge Challenger car with heavy damage and the adult male driver inside the vehicle.
Through investigation, detectives determined that the Dodge Challenger was traveling eastbound on Almonaster Avenue when – for reasons unknown – the vehicle left the roadway, struck a ditch, flipped and landed in the parking lot of a truck stop at the location. The driver was extracted from the vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared deceased.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the victim in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
